Standing together in resilience of Kerala

first_imgThe Centre For Mohiniyattam (CFM) stands today, as a glorious symbol of our timeless cultural heritage. As a tribute to Kerala’s resilience and in support of its recovery, CFM will be presenting Mohiniyattam by Guru Bharati Shivaji and disciples on September 9, 6:30 pm, at the Multipurpose Hall, Kamladevi Complex, India International Centre, New Delhi.The evening’s performance will feature a small production, highlighting the recent natural calamity that has befallen the land. Also, it will depict the resilience of its native people and support of all citizens of the country, in rising together to rebuild and restore the state to its blessed glory. She is the founder of Center for Mohiniyattam, a dance academy promoting Mohiniyattom and the co-author of two books – ‘Art of Mohiniyattom’ and ‘Mohiniyattom’. Also, the Government of India awarded her the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2004, for her contributions to Indian classical dance.Bharati Shivaji has performed widely all over the world including, the US, Latin America, Africa, South East Asia, Europe, and Mexico. In 2002, she was invited to perform at the prestigious International Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, UK, where it was for the first time in its history that Mohiniyattam was presented and was received very well by the audience and art critics.last_img
