first_imgThe Air Force has selected Tinker AFB, Okla., to coordinate maintenance and sustainment of the B-21 Raider and Edwards AFB, Calif., to lead testing and evaluation of the next-generation, long-range strike bomber, officials announced Friday. Robins AFB, Ga., and Hill AFB, Utah, will support Tinker to ensure the B-21 is maintained and, when necessary, overhauled and upgraded, according to a press release. Edwards is home to the Air Force Test Center. The Air Force expects to stand up the first B-21 operational units around 2025, reported Air Force Times. The service plans to purchase at least 100 of the advanced stealth bombers. … The master developer for 145 acres at the former Fort McPherson in south Atlanta has submitted a reuse plan calling for 525,000 square feet of office space, a 600-student school, 235,000 square feet of retail, 46,000 square feet of restaurants, 100 hotel rooms and 2,800 residential units. The property represents the portion of the Army post that remained after the Fort Mac LRA sold 330 acres of the site in 2015 to filmmaker Tyler Perry to build a movie and television production complex. “We believe we can turn Fort Mac into a destination for entertainment, film, gaming and music,” Stephen Macauley, principal of master developer Macauley Investments, told the Atlanta Business Chronicle last year. “We also want to find a way to feature the performing and visual arts, along with [attracting] technology companies.”Illustration courtesy of U.S. Air Force Dan Cohen AUTHORlast_img
