The Company had been assigned the task to find out whether or not there was enough interest in both the corporate and public world to fund the building of the Energy Centre, and overall, they found there was.- Advertisement -The report, composed over the last few months, was based on interviews conducted with both individuals and corporations here in the Peace region, as well as in Vancouver and Calgary. Some key recommendations through the report were that Centre, while possible, needst be smaller than originally planned, and cost roughly 7.6 million dollars, instead of the proposed 17. The report also suggested that the Centre consolidate some of the features that they had initially proposed, and focus instead having a few key features. Despite that though, the report also found that there is wide support for the project, and that there is a large volunteer base that can secure the funding needed to construct the center. The report is now in the hands of the Fundraising Study Steering Committee, a local committee chaired by Councillor Bruce Christensen, who will discuss the findings among themselves, and then make a recommendation to the City council as to go to forward with the project or not. While there is no definite timeline, Committee Member and City Manager Diane Hunter says that the committee would like make their recommendation to the city by October.last_img read more
