Police investigating sudden death of nineyearold schoolgirl

first_imgPolice are investigating the sudden death of a nine-year-old girl at her home in Glasgow.Emergency services were called to the property, a semi-detached sandstone villa on the south side of the city, on Thursday afternoon and police said the schoolgirl’s death was being treated as “unexplained”.The girl’s uncle said later that she was found dead by another child and had “passed away in her sleep”.He told the Daily Record: “There is nothing suspicious, the police are doing their job, they need to investigate these things.“She has actually been discovered by another child who thought she was sleeping. An adult tried to wake her and found she was unconscious, perhaps from some seizure.”Friends and relatives were said to have been comforting the girl’s family at the property in Dumbreck  Road, Pollokshields. One neighbour said they were a “really nice family” with “two beautiful daughters”.A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Around 1.45pm on Thursday, police were called to a report of the sudden death of a nine-year-old girl within a property in Dumbreck Road, Glasgow.”Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of death, which officers are treating as unexplained at this time.”A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.” Want the best of The Telegraph direct to your email and WhatsApp?
